Hello folks - I spent the first 20 plus years of my career in the advertising industry where I became a project manager and designer. For the past eight years I have taught digital design and production at Meadowvale Secondary School in the Peel school board. In 2001 I won a place as a Clarica Scholar getting my team and I a week at Acadia University to play in their multimedia "sandbox" media development centre. That affirmation of the value of this work inspired me to dig further and deeper leading to my presentation at last year's Leading Learning conference. That presentation focussed on the value of play as a teaching tool at the secondary level and multimedia as a great medium for that play. I am delighted to be attending this year's conference because I see several strong connections (sorry - no pun intended!) between this conference and my areas of interest. I am especially looking forward to leading the "Birds of a Feather" session on gaming - a hot topic and one that is sure to get people talking and thinking!
