Hi everyone!  My name is Nicole DaCosta and I'm with the ABEL program from York University.  I'll be leading a conversation on video streaming.  With resources like United Streaming and sites like YouTube, streaming video can be a valuable and interesting tool to use.  So my questions are:

Have you used and/or created streaming video for educational purposes?

And if so, what impact did it bring?

Hi Nicole,

We did a neat event with the help of the Communications Research Centre and National Research Council using video blogging and streaming to enhance a large scale video conference event.  It worked out great and the best part was it gave our students the ability to express themeselves in a youtube-type environment and then watch the video blogs and allow them time to contemplate on what was thought followed by blogging on the different videos.  In a 2 hour session, there were approx. 50 1 minute videos posted and approx 300 blog posts about the videos.  So basically the videos were used as a launch point and a conclusion.  It was really powerful stuff!
