Hi all,

It's been a while, and we have new members, so thought it was time to fire up the forum. What's been working, what have your re-considered, where do you want to go in next few months?

I've been considering where the most impact my technology integration initiatives seem to have, and it is my belief that I connect the most with classroom teachers when I demonstrate how to use different applications for differentation and balanced literacy. I still have the belief that we can expand that outlook, and create a learning environment that reflects a seamless interface of teaching, learning and technology in all subject areas, but hey, just like teaching the students, we need to go to teachers' prior experiences to get started.

I'll continue to push the edge with the e-portfolio workshops, (low-tech, but high-impact on curriculum), they are adaptive to teachers' needs, and lately I have been getting a lot of interest in blogging for literacy.

After researching many sites (thanks all for your suggestions) I have set up a blogging site to use as an interactive activity in upcoming workshops.

http://bjmclaughlin.edublogs.org/

It is still a work in progress.

I did not find this a breeze to develop and still am trying to figure a simple way to instruct teachers on how to set up a class.

I'd love to hear of a 1-2-3 step process, or develop one. I know I have an uphill battle introducing blogging as the potentially explosive literacy tool it can be, and then getting busy, non-techie teachers on-line.

Any collaboration is MUCH appreciated.

Barb

I have uploaded the base files we are using in an e-portfolio workshop (folder is called e-portfolio workshop). Basically trying to generate some buzz surrounding a student-generated e-portfolio that promotes reflection and metacognition.

Ok, you will note that this not high-end stuff. That is the point. As a system leader, I am in the same sense of place that I was when I was in my classroom. Scaffold the emergent integrator, while providing differentiation for the resistant and the blossoming. Check out how many expectations I pulled out of the documents that can be met using e-portfolios. These can be used as a scavenger hunt activity.

Barb
